The Town of Sahuarita has posted some valuable information that we should all review as Monsoon season has officially started.

Flash Flood Watch means flash flooding is possible. Be prepared to move to higher ground. A flash flood could occur without any warning. Listen to NOAA National Weather Service Weather Radio or commercial radio or television for additional information.

Flash Flood Warning means a flash flood is imminent or has been reported. Seek high ground immediately.

During flash flood season the National Weather Service via NOAA Weather Radio 162.4 MHz has 24 hour weather broadcasts. Warnings are also broadcast on local radio and television stations.

During a flood:

  • Do not drive around barricades: You can be fined and forced to pay for rescue costs by law. Arizona Revised Statute section 28-910
  • Do not attempt to drive over a flooded road or bridge
  • Avoid areas subject to flooding
  • Do not attempt to cross a flooded stream
  • Stay away from the banks of flowing washes
  • Stay clear of disaster areas
  • Do not consume food or water that has been in contact with flood water
  • Do not handle electric equipment in wet areas
  • Report broken utility lines t o t h e a p p r o p r i a t e authorities
  • Attempt to stay at home or indoors
  • Protect and monitor allchildren.
