Homeowner Questions | Question of the monthTrue or False? When purchasing a new home through a builder, I will get a better price if I don’t have my own Realtor?

FALSE! You will not get a better price on the purchase of a new home simply because you do not have a real estate agent representing you. On the contrary, your Realtor may be able to negotiate a better deal for you, such as credits for upgrades, lot premium reductions or appliances. The agents who work at the model home sites work for the builder and therefore look out for the builder’s interests. It is important for you to have an agent on your side to negotiate the best deal possible in today’s market. They can also advise you on the importance of walk-throughs and inspections. Having your Realtor represent you won’t cost you anything…but it may save you in the end.
